Breaking News: Chief of Staff Eddie Borrego Leaving District 8 County Commissioner Lynda Bell. By Geniusofdespair

Trying to confirm right now, heard Eddie Borrego was leaving Monday to work for Carlos Migoya, joining former County Commission staffers Donald Wolfe (Xavier Suarez)  and Ester, Joe Martinez's former chief of staff and a second Martinez staffer.  This Eddie Borrego move should rock the Lynda boat!!!!  Now you know where our bond money is going -- big salaries. GOT CONFIRMATION EDDIE BORREGO'S LAST DAY IS JANUARY 24TH. Xavier Suarez only had good things to say about Don Wolfe (he said he couldn't offer Don the kind of salary he can get over there). The X man said Don has great range or "bandwidth" -- he could tackle anything put before him. Commissioner Suarez sent him off with his "blessings." Borrego, on the other hand is leaving during a campaign. Shows a lack of confidence. So all you nitwits who voted for the Jackson Bond... take a deep swig of these bigger salaries at Jackson, than the county offers staff.

Good for him! Lynda is crazy.

The Unions pushing the bonds would never give straight answers on the salary question. Now we have an open piggy bank through Jackson Memorial instead of the promised renovations and technology upgrades. I always thought the BCC was pulling a fast one when they pushed it for the 2013 Nov election when it was the only item to vote on. So many didn't vote. The City of Miami and Homestead and whatever other city elections in Dade county happened screwed the entire county. No one I know voted in my area except for me and I live in the unincorporated South Dade area.

Eddie is an unqualified opportunist. Lynda can afford to hire a long time County bureaucrat and will do so. I'm not sure what is worse, him, his lack of qualification or that we'll be paying him more money because of a bond issued passed without 1/2 of the County knowing it was even on the ballot or there was a Nov. 2013 elections.

New CoS will have significant ties to Homestead...

I don't think they can use the bond money to pay for staff salary. Surprised they brought in Borrego, but isn't Wolf a lawyer? Anyone know how much he is getting paid? Who filled their positions in the past/how much did they make?

Interesting recruits for Jackson. Curious to see the salary differentials. What positions did they fill? Wolf is a lawyer and will be a valuable asset to JMH -- great talent.

Turnover seems high around her. Plus hard for her to keep painting the $40K/yr county workers asking for their 2009 money back as greedy when she's paying this staffer over $100k plus yearly raises.

So three overpaid political hacks leave jobs with county politicians to work in the hospital administration, and you are saluting that? I would much prefer to see smart, hardworking people who are NOT political hacks working for our public hospital.

And where were these highly paid jobs advertised? Did these hacks go through a competitive selection process? Or is this just another example of cronyism in corrupt Miami-Dade County?

Also, exactly how much are these political hacks now being paid? Why can we see all regular Miami-Dade County government salaries online, but not JMH salaries? What are they hiding?

The whole thing makes me sick to my stomach.

Wasn't Eddie Borrego making $110,000 as Frau Bell's Chief of Staff? Must have taken a nice pay raise for a guy to leave a job where he was acknowledged to be the brains of the District 8 operation. Now who is going to tell Honey Boo Boo which fork to use or which bread plate is hers?

Fascinating that he would be pulled into JMH when he neither has a Health care background nor is a recognized as an organizational genius. The Anon above is correct, Eddie Borrego is a political hack. His only value is for what influence he can wield with garnering BCC money as a defacto lobbyist.

Timing is all wrong for poor old Eddie Borrego. I would have thought he was trying to jump into a job a Genting.

Did Mark Knight lie to the commission when he told them that restoring the 5% would cause serious harm to Jackson because it is not budgeted? Now Migoya and the Unions have agreed to restoring 3 of the 5 with the remaining 2 going away in September plus a bonus!!! Somebody ain't telling the truth or messing with the $$

$830 Mil bond issue. This is Miami-Dade County. Of course, the money gets wasted on more connected insiders.

Donald Wolf. Aren't both his parents lobbyists?

See the post on "crony capitalism".

Yes they are lobbyists. And his mother was in jail.

If you are going to take the time to post a comment, please take the time to post accurately and completely.

His mother's 1997 conviction was VACATED IN ITS ENTIRETY by the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida in February 2011. Pursuant to U. S. Supreme Court case law, Judge John E. Steele found that the trial court had acted without legal authority in her prosecution.

The original prosecutor even joined her in seeking a writ of error coram nobis, a legal proceeding which completely nullified her conviction and totally cleared her record of the conviction. She was entirely acquitted, meaning she NEVER should have spent one minute in jail.

Don and Eddie are both young people with new ideas. Jackson will benefit from both of them. Not credible to judge people based on family or past employer.

Not enough cheese on ship and the rats are jumping for more cheese.

Where were these jobs advertised? The bond money is a shell game on the balance sheets. I have to wonder if unqualified Eddie jumped ship for more $$$ AND seeing the end of the road with Bell not getting re elected. It all makes me sick.

This is crony capitalism at it's most minute point. This of all the contracts we don't see because they're moved so fast through the BCC.

Sickening.

It seems the niche industry in County Hall is getting a nice job with a commissioner so you'll have a job for life whether the commissioner stays or not, we have to pay for these lateral moves whether they deserve them or not.

Dusty, thanks for setting the records straight. Don is a wonderful young man and we should embrace more young people who choose to serve their community. My best to both of these young men in their future endeavors.

Don might be a "nice young man" but his stepfather is the notorious Slyvester Lukis. Lukis represents strip miners, waste haulers, billboard companies... No pillow talk?

I have known Donald Wolfe for many, many years and he is an honest, hardworking, intelligent and ethical young man. Jackson is lucky to have him as was Commissioner Suarez. I am sure that Donald will bring his many talents and expertise to Jackson where he will prove to be an invaluable asset.

Let me explain to you how it works, they select the director, and later ask him/her to find a place/job for their staff so everyone is well placed and taken care of.

Borrego is a parasite who Feed on the public. Is Jackson taking the place of MIA as the new dumping ground for political hacks ? Next time Jackson pleads for $$ the list of all the former county "staffers " should be trotted out and asked their specific job responsibilities and Salaries . Borrego unethical without regard for truth or the pubic good.

Carlos Mogoya and Jackson have sure hired a lot of low IQ ex-City and ex-County staffers. Not a good sign.
